The president of FC Bayern Munich has been sentenced to three years and six months in prison for tax evasion. Uli Hoeness was accused of having used Swiss bank accounts to evade taxes. Uli Hoeness’ defence lawyers accepted the figure stated by a tax officer of the tax debt being EUR 27.2 million. By passing down this sentence, the court rejected Hoeness’ confession in early 2013as having cons6tituted full disclosure. While the public prosecutor had called for a sentence of five years and six months in prison, the defendants pleaded that the case against Hoeness be rejected or he at most receive a suspended sentence – both sides can appeal to the Federal Court.
